Basadi in Music Awards 2024: All the nominees
The nominees for the third edition of Basadi in Music Awards (BIMAs) have been announced ahead of the presentation ceremony at Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 10 August.
The nominees’ ceremony was hosted virtually by media personality Ipeleng Selepe featuring captivating performances from Wanda Baloyi, Makhanj and DJ Mmatsheko Mosito.
The nominations list is led by Grammy-winning artist Tyla, with an impressive five nods in the Pop Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Styled Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year and prestigious Artist of the Year categories.
Following closely behind are DJ Zinhle and Lwah Ndlunkulu, each with four nominations. DJ Zinhle is nominated in the Collaboration of the Year for ‘Thula’ with Cici and ‘Mdali’ with Basetsana, DJ of the Year, and Music Video of the Year, while Lwah Ndlunkulu is nominated for Afropop Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Kamo Mphela and Cici also garnered four nominations each. Kamo Mphela is nominated in the Amapiano Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year for ‘Dali’, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. Cici is nominated for Collaboration of the Year, Dance Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Music Video of the Year. Makhadzi is not far behind, with nominations for Songwriter of the Year, Dance Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
The public can vote in South Africa only by sending the category code and name of their favourite nominee to 49960. For example, (Afropop Brenda). Voting is unlimited and the SMS costs R2. Free SMSes do not apply.
