Basadi in Music Awards extends nominations deadline
The organisers of Basadi in Music Awards (BIMAs) have extended the deadline for nominations. The deadline has now been moved to 19 May from 9 May, with the inaugural ceremony expected to be held in August to coincide with Women’s Month.
The awards, which were founded by entertainment entrepreneur and public relations professional Hloni Modise, seek to honour and celebrate women in the music industry, including singers, rappers, performers, composers, and producers, among others.
The nominated musicians must have released new music between 1 April 2021 and 30 April 2022. Shortlisted nominees across the 23 categories will be announced in June after which the public will be able to vote for their favourites to win. Nominations voting lines will close on 19 May at midnight CAT.
“We have received thousands of nominations thus far which is immensely exciting particularly because this is the inaugural Basadi in Music Awards,” Basadi In Music Awards founder and CEO Hloni Modise said. “Seeing the calibre of nominations, this will undoubtedly be a celebration of women in music who have burst through glass ceilings and inspired thousands. We want to provide the best platform for acknowledging these women and we call on the public to help us do so by nominating their favourite women in music.”
SAMPRA chief marketing officer Tiyani Maluleke said: “We are delighted that the Basadi in Music Awards entries are open to the public to nominate their favourite female artists that are taking up space in the music industry. Female representation in the music industry matters and we congratulate BIMAs for creating a platform to acknowledge female creatives and their musical talents.”
To submit an entry, the public can send an SMS with the category name and name of artist to 49960. E.g. Amapiano Brenda.
