Burna Boy’s Last Last surpasses 100 million YouTube views
The music video for Burna Boy’s runaway hit ‘Last Last’ has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.
The feat arrives five months after the release of the clip, which was directed by Burna Boy himself.
The record, which samples Toni Braxton’s 2000 classic ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’, adds to other offerings by the Grammy-winning musician, such as ‘Ye’ and ‘On the Low’, which have also amassed more than 100 million views.
Co-written with producers Off & Out (brothers Mikael and Samuel Haataja), Chopstix, MdS, and Ruuben, ‘Last Last’ was released on 13 May ahead of the release of the Nigerian Afrobeats star’s sixth album Love, Damini.
Since the song’s release, it has gone on to chalk up impressive milestones, including appearances on some 17 charts around the world, including the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100. It has also earned gold certification in Canada, France, New Zealand and the UK.
“After turning 30, birthdays seem to make you reflect on your life choices, or a lack thereof — your goals, dreams, hopes, achievements and fears,” Burna Boy said upon Love, Damini’s release. “Even though it put me in a vulnerable place, it also challenged me to do and feel more. I want you to listen to this and feel like it’s a roller-coaster ride.”
“Each track was inspired by significant life events that have impacted Burna,” a statement from the singer’s team reads. “The record marks a coming of age into his and captures Burna Boy’s new sound as he turns the page on a new musical era.”
Meanwhile, Burna Boy has received nominations at this year’s American Music Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards.
This week, the singer also launched his cannabis brand BrkFst in collaboration with Jokes Up Ice Kream in the US.
