Call for applications: Artist residency at University of California
The Department of Art and Art History at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is calling on artists from all disciplines to apply for its inaugural Teaching Artists-in-Residence programme.

The department seeks to cultivate curiosity and sustain the courage to embrace the unknown through art. Visiting artists will teach an upper division art studio class and a graduate seminar, deliver a public lecture and further their creative work and/or research while on campus.
How to apply
- Applicants can submit a professional resume, a cover letter of interest in teaching at the UC Davis, samples of work, a creative or research statement, a teaching statement, and a statement of contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Applications should include a sample undergraduate syllabus, a sample graduate seminar outline and three professional references.
- The dates for appointment are between fall 2021 or spring 2022. Fall quarter begins on 20 September and concludes on 10 December, while spring quarter begins on 24 March 2022 until 9 June 2022. Applicants should specify the quarter they are applying for.

The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis will provide funding for a generous salary and benefits, as well as travel and academic creative enrichment funds. Visiting artists will be given studio space and the opportunity to further develop their art practice in the community of students, other visiting artists and faculty members.
Requirements
- Candidates are required to have a Master of Fine Arts or equivalent professional experience, three years minimum teaching experience, a well-developed portfolio in their area of specialisation, and an exhibition record that is national and/or international in scope.
- Candidates should be conversant in contemporary art issues and studio practices and enthusiastic about teaching in a diverse, multicultural setting.
- A recently updated Curriculum Vitae.
- A letter of interest in teaching at UC Davis.
- Samples of current work – A single pdf including at least 18 images along with a corresponding image list that includes titles, dates, dimensions, and a detailed materials list with a short explanation. Applicants may include PDF(s) of catalogues, video links, if applicable.
- A creative/research statement.
- A teaching philosophy statement.
- A sample undergraduate syllabus and a sample graduate seminar outline.
