Call for applications: BMAT music business scholarships in Spain
Barcelona Music and Audio Technologies (BMAT) Music Innovators, in partnership with the International Music Business (IMB) School, is calling on aspiring young professionals to apply for its Challenge scholarships in Barcelona, Spain, for the 2021-22 academic year.
- The application deadline for the 1st round is 22 August.
The scholarships are open to both students and professionals taking part in IMB School’s Challenges Module and will aim to empower young individuals to better the music industry through innovation.
BMAT Music Innovators works closely with music industry players to amplify the value of music. The company will offer 30 successful applicants €3 000 (about $3 500) each to attend the IMB School. The selected students will receive a unique training opportunity and play an active role in leading valuable solutions for global music companies such as YouTube Music, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Chappell and Primavera Sound, among others.
The selected participants for the module will face seven different challenges over the academic year, from global business strategy to technology innovation and community management, all of which will empower the companies to improve the world of music.
The scholarships are divided into two rounds. The first round is aimed at Master’s students and the second one is targeted at postgraduate students.
Eligibility
- Candidates do not need to have any previous experience in the music sector but should have experience in a wide range of areas such as communications, content creation, distribution, marketing, data analytics and legal affairs, among many other fields.
- Applicants should possess the following attributes:
- Be a music nerd and music tech fanatic.
- Have a curious mind, seeing challenges as opportunities.
- Be a collaborative team player.
- Be a driven self-starter.
- Have a global vision.
How to apply
- Candidates must solve a test, which is viewable here.
- The test and its contents are confidential. It is strictly forbidden to share partly or entirely its content.
- Applicants cannot ask anything regarding the test either. Both the results and the candidate’s approach to the different challenges will be evaluated.
- The test is only available in reading mode.
- A copy of the document should be made and saved as “Your Full Name _ Logic Test BMAT”.
- Participants should create a link for direct access to their test resolution.
- Applicants should copy the link and paste it at the beginning of the word document with the answers to the questions from an additional assignment, which is based on an article published by Midia on 15 March 2021. Participants can find instructions and more information on the assignment here.
Applicants can apply for the scholarship here. The application deadline for the 1st round is 22 August, and the 2nd phase will close on 10 October.
Note: Candidates should read the following points before filling in the application form:
- For each scholarship, applicants must include a folder located in a file hosting platform like Dropbox or Google Drive, which contains all the required documents.
- The links provided must allow direct access to the documentation contained in each folder and all hosted files must be downloadable without the need to request authorisation.
- If access to the folder requires a password, it is essential to include it in the corresponding box on the form.
- If the links provided in the form do not meet these two requirements, the application will be considered void.
