Call for applications: Boosting Shoots production grant in Rwanda
Goethe-Institut in Kigali, Rwanda, is accepting applications for the second phase of its Boosting Shoots production grant.
The grant was launched in June as an emergency initiative to support creatives in Rwanda during the COVID-19 crisis.
Ten creatives will each receive 200 000 Rwandan francs (about $200) for their productions. Goethe-Institut Kigali will share the productions on all its social media platforms.
The selection will be made by a three-member jury that includes Boosting Shoots project coordinator Louise Mutabazi, communications expert and writer Louise Umutoni, and multilingual hip hop poet and spoken word artist Eric 1Key
“The projects produced during phase one were of high quality and impressively creative,” Mutabazi told Music In Africa. “The artists are motivated by the desire to create new artworks and to have new content to share. The reception on Goethe's social media channel was impressive.
“We got many shares, retweets and comments on every project and were able to see how the artistic community is eager to find ways of sharing art in this new context where everything has to be thought differently. Besides this project, I enjoy observing the responsiveness and inventiveness Rwandan artistic community has shown since the beginning of the pandemic.”
Participants are required to submit short project concepts in the following art forms:
- Music
- Film
- Digital art
The application deadline is 31 October.
