Call for applications: COVID-19 fund for arts organisations
Youth-led arts organisations running an existing initiative responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on communities can apply for Youth Fund: COVID-19 Action.
Grants are worth $5 000 and seek to support youth action to tackle the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The fund was established by the UN Major Group for Children and Youth, ActionAid and Restless Development in collaboration with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).
The proposed art project's activity must not exceed two months and must be completed by 31 November 2020 upon receipt of funds.
Eligibility
Youth-led art organisations from the following African countries can apply:
- Algeria, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, , Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
To be considered, the applicant must:
- Be a registered youth-led art organisation.
- Your COVID-19 project must be an ongoing initiative in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and operating per the WHO's guidance.
- Have a bank account that is in the name of the organisation submitting the application and requesting the funds. Funds cannot be transferred to a bank account in an individual's name. Funds can only be transferred via an international bank transfer and not via any other means such as Western Union, mobile cash transfer, cheque, cash payment, etc.
Preference will be given to projects that:
- Use the funds to support groups and communities particularly vulnerable to the impact of COVID-19 including, but not limited to, displaced or conflict-affected people, women, youth, persons living with disabilities, older people, the LGBTI+ community, marginalised ethnic or religious communities, communities impacted by climate change, and young people living with or affected by HIV/Aids.
- Are taking place in harder to reach locations where support to tackle the effects of COVID-19 is less available.
- Demonstrate collaboration with other partners (local authorities, government ministries, civil society, the media) addressing COVID-19.
- Impact at least 300 people directly.
- Can provide financial reports for their organisation's previous projects.
Requirements
- Documentation to verify the legal status of the organisation.
- A governance document that provides information on the organisation, objectives, leadership/governance structure.
- A policy and strategy document that highlights the organisation's commitments and regulations, which the organisation follows and its strategic vision.
- A project plan that sets out the background, objective, operations, the methodology and activity plan of the COVID-19 project.
- A budget with a clear plan of how the funds will be used.
- The latest financial report. If this is not available, submit an equivalent financial statement showing your most recent income and expenditure.
- Contact details for at least one reference.
- Images/video link that highlights the organisation's project impact to date.
- Organisational bank details.
