Call for applications: Cultural marketing workshop in Malawi
Malawian arts and culture specialist Vincent Maluwa is calling on young creatives and cultural industry players to apply for the National Cultural Marketing workshop, which takes place from 14 to 29 November.
The workshop will be conducted in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu. It is supported by the US embassy in Malawi through the Public Affairs Office under the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Programme.
Maluwa, who is an alumnus of the US Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Programme, has also partnered with Malawi’s Department of Arts and the country's Censorship Board under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture, as well as the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute under the Ministry of Trade.
The workshop is aimed at developing skills for young creative and cultural industry players to improve and harness their abilities. It seeks to provide a platform where they can attain self-sustainability while growing Malawi’s creative economy.
The workshop will also provide an opportunity for the development of creative partnerships and collaborations in Malawi and the US.
Interested creatives and industry players such as artists, arts managers, administrators, curators, events managers and cultural managers can apply here.
The application deadline is 30 October.
Successful candidates will undergo an intensive two-day workshop that will cover best practices in areas such as:
- Intellectual property rights.
- Resource mobilisation.
- Branding and arts marketing.
- Content creation and management.
- Management of cultural programmes and events.
- Artist management.
- Partnerships and collaborations.
- Public relations in the creative economy.
The dates of the workshops are as follows:
- Lilongwe – 14 to 15 November
- Blantyre – 21 to 22 November
- Mzuzu – 28 to 29 November
