Call for applications: Fête de la Musique Joburg
The organisers of Fete de la Musique festival are calling on artists to apply for the event taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 9 June.
The deadline for applications is 27 April.
“Once again, we are calling on musicians and bands from all music genres, amateur and professional, to perform and join in the spirit of Fête de la Musique in Newtown,” the organisers said.
“Open to musicians from all music genres, the aim of Fête de la Musique is to celebrate live music, host international artists alongside local musicians, provide a platform for upcoming talent and bring free music for all in a safe and inclusive environment.”
Artists who wish to apply must download an application form via the official website and provide following:
- Artists biography
- Photos
- Technical rider
- Sound clips
- Videos
- Press kit
The festival is free to the public and artists who perform there will “donate their time for free”.
Founded by former French minister of Arts and Culture Jack Lang and French composer and music journalist Maurice Fleuret in 1982, the first edition of Fete de la Musique took place in Paris on 21 June. The festival is now celebrated in more than 120 countries including Germany, China, South Africa, Brazil, and Italy.
Artists who have performed at Fete de la Musique in Johannesburg include Vaudou Game, Nakhane, BLK JKS, Urban Village, BCUC, Baenz Oester and the Rainmakers, Bombshelter Beast.
