Call for applications: Mundial Montreal 2019
North American world music summit Mundial Montreal is calling on artists to apply to be considered for a 25-minute showcase at its ninth annual conference in Canada from 19 to 22 November.
The festival organisers are seeking artists who will use the event to bolster their careers at a national and international level. Applicants are required to have released music, produced videos and held shows. They should also have an online presence.
Applicants will be asked to pay a non-refundable application fee of 40 CAD ($30). Interested artists can apply here. The submission deadline is 1 April.
How to apply
- Artist needs to complete the online submission form and include a biography, videos, photos and press links. Emails or physical submissions will not be reviewed.
- Artists should provide their most representative and best material.
Once the application is completed and paid, the primary contact will receive a confirmation email. A preselection committee will review the submissions and grade them based on originality, songwriting skills and career establishment. The top-rated artists will be submitted to the programming team, which will extend the invitations. A notification will be sent to the same contact about the applicant’s final status, which will be sent between June and mid-September.
What selected artists need to know
- Selected artists must have a representative who will purchase an emerald badge or a ruby badge at full price and participate at the fourth day of the event. The representative must be identified when the offer is accepted. The accreditation will be on sale soon.
- Mundial Montreal is a showcasing conference and therefore does not provide support for travel, accommodation, per diem or catering.
- Artists are responsible for acquiring the necessary visas to perform in Canada and the Electronic Travel Authorisation to enter Canada.
- Mundial Montreal strongly recommends artists to secure funding for their travel.
“Our showcase program is extremely limited (approximately 30 spots),” a statement reads. “Our mission is to present the best world music artists from Canada as well as international artists to industry professionals and the Montreal public.
“Showcasing artists are selected from a blend of applications and invitations to create the right mix of emerging market-ready talent that reflects the needs of our talent buyer pool."
