Call for applications: SA dance compilation
South African DJ Das Kapital has sent out a call to all amateur and professional producers to contribute to his latest compilation, Overtime 2.
The aim of the call is “bringing together all of South Africa’s dance music scenes”. Overtime 2 is the follow-up to Das Kapital’s Overtime 1, which featured 15 of the biggest hits in the South African dance music scene.
Producers have been urged to submit music irrespective of subgenre. “Don't be afraid to send music that is brilliant but slightly leftfield," Das Kapital’s manager, Tim Medcraft, said. “We want the best music, not necessarily just the music you think we want”
Artists who wish to feature on the compilation, which is due to be released in October 2017, have to adhere to the following submission process and conditions:
-
Each submission must be original
-
Producer’s full name, DJ name as well as a contact number must be provided
-
DataFileHost links will not be considered
-
Private downloadable Mp3 and SoundCloud links are preferred
-
Samples that have not been cleared, remixes, or tracks previously featured on streaming sites will not be considered
-
Participants must send their submissions to info@doworkrecords.com
There is no limit to the number of songs that can be sent. However, Medcraft says they are “looking for international standard releases so sending demos or unfinished tracks won't help anyone”.
Das Kapital and Medcraft will curate the selection process. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 4 August 2017.
