Call for applications: SAMPRA Development Fund in South Africa
The South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) is calling on South African artists, promoters and music organisations that are hosting music events, workshops and industry-related awards to apply for its development fund.
The fund is divided into two sections: sponsorship and live performances.
Sponsorship
The sponsorship fund seeks to provide opportunities for projects and events that are aligned with SAMPRA’s vision and strategic objectives. Music organisations and artists who intend to host an event can apply here before 17 November.
Events and projects that are eligible for sponsorship are:
- Music awards.
- Music workshops.
- Musicals.
Eligibility
- All South African recording artists, record companies, industry bodies, allied industries, academic institutions, government organisations, exhibitors, and event and production companies whose projects and events are aligned with SAMPRA’s vision and strategic objectives.
- All applicants must submit a detailed business plan, sponsorship proposal detailing clearly SAMPRA’s ROI, profiles of directors where applicable and a portfolio of previous events hosted by the entity or individual.

Live performances
The live performances fund is designed for individuals and companies that are committed to bringing the live music scene back to life.
Artists and promoters can apply here before 17 November.
The SAMPRA Development Fund aims to assist applicants with funds for the following:
- Venue hire.
- Sound equipment rental.
- Sound engineering.
- Artist fees.
- Project management.
- Marketing and promotion.
Eligibility
- All South African professional recording artists and live music promoters whose projects and events are aligned with SAMPRA’s vision and strategic objectives.
- Only events hosted in South Africa will qualify.
- All applicants must submit a sponsorship proposal detailing SAMPRA’s ROI and budget, company CK, or ID copy of individual where applicable, and a portfolio of previous events hosted by the entity or individual.
