Call for applications: Watana Festival Mozambique 2018
The organisers of Watana Festival are calling on artists from around the world to apply to perform on the Island of Mozambique in the north of the country from 21 to 23 September.
Interested artists can apply via the Watana Festival official website or download the application form, fill all the required fields and send it to artists@watanafestival.com. The deadline for applications is 25 May.
Watana Festival is an annual event that involves various art forms. It is known for its multicultural and socio-cultural character. The event accommodates music, dance, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, basketwork and theatre.
Its goal, the festival website says, is “to rescue, promote and protect the historical-cultural heritage, artistic, cultural tourism, the environment and natural resources to benefit the local community”.
Visa requirements
All visitors (except citizens of Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Zambia and Zimbabwe) need a visa, which can be obtained upon arrival at airports in Maputo, Vilankulo and Pemba. Entry visas can be purchased in meticais, US dollars or South African rand.

Watana means 'union' in the local Makhuwa language.
