Call for entries: 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards
The organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) are calling for submissions ahead of the 23rd edition of the annual event.
Organised by Charterhouse Ghana, the event is held in partnership with the Musicians Union of Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. It celebrates outstanding musical achievements in the country and across the continent in various genres including highlife, Afropop, hiplife and traditional music.
The call applies to Ghanaian musical artists, producers and record labels that have released works between 1 January and 31 December 2021. All submissions must be made online.
To participate, artists or their representatives can complete entry forms here.
The submission deadline is 18 February.
At last year’s edition, gospel singer Diana Hamilton was named Artist of the Year at a ceremony in Accra on 26 June. In addition to the ultimate prize, which makes Hamilton the first female gospel act to be crowned Artist of the Year, she walked away with the awards for Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artist of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year.
The date for the 2022 VGMAs is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. It will be preceded by supporting events including the Countdown Series, which will be broadcast on local TV stations.
