Call for entries: AfriMusic Song Contest
The organisers of the AfriMusic Song Contest are calling on songwriters, artists and aspiring songwriters from all African countries to submit their original songs to compete for the Best Song in Africa competition.
- Applicants have until 5 January 2018.
The entries opened earlier this month and applicants have until 5 January 2018 to submit their songs. Entries should be submitted via the Afrimusic Song Contest official website. National voting in each country will take place from 13 January 2018 to 11 February 2018. Voting for the finals will be from 15 to 29 March 2018.
“We received preregistrations from more than 290 artists; we are excited to see how many songs in total will be entered from each country and which country will take the winning title,” AfriMusic Song Contest managing director Michelle Fernandes said.
“Although some artists preregistered already, those same artists now need to officially submit their songs on our entries site, which is powered by Votality. We are also allowing artists that did not preregister the opportunity to still compete in the AfriMusic Song Contest by submitting their songs on the same entry site.”
When entries close, all submitted songs will go through a screening process. The approved songs will then go through to the national selections where the public from each country will have the opportunity to listen to the songs via the AfriMusic digital platform and cast their vote for their favourite song.
“The winning song’s artist will then represent their country in the finals. Further information on the process and voting lines will be released in early 2018,” the organisers said.
