Call for entries: Ghana RTP Awards 2021
Big Events Ghana, the company in charge of the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, is accepting entries ahead of this year's event.
Now in its 11th edition, the annual awards ceremony highlights and rewards outstanding feats across the media landscape in Ghana.
Interested broadcasters and media organisations can file for nomination via the scheme’s website. To be eligible for the awards this year, applicants must have worked between July 2020 and June 2021.
The deadline for entries is 18 July.
There are two main ways to score a nomination, namely peer-to-peer nomination and personal vote request. The former requires a professional from the same field who believes another radio or TV personality deserves to be nominated, while the latter constitutes a self-nomination.
Voting will be split between the public (60%) and a technical committee (40%) comprising selected industry veterans.
“We pride ourselves in ensuring that, based on the year in consideration for awarding, the absolutely most deserving are chosen to stand a chance to go through rigorous tests by our esteemed technical team,” the organisers said.
“This ensures that no matter where one plies his or her trade from in the country, as long as during the year of consideration, you went above and beyond to perform better than your peers, recognition and acclaim will be yours. The quality of one's work under the year in review, as well as the influence said work had over the public will give them a gentle shove to play roles in furthering the development agenda of the nation is vital in securing a nomination.”
Last year, broadcaster Stacy Amoateng was declared RTP Personality of the Year, also picking up the trophy for RTP Television Development Show Host of the Year. Kwami Sefa Kayi and Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi (alias Bola Ray) both took home the RTP Personality Of The Decade 2010 – 2020.
