Call for entries: Music-themed film competition in South Korea
The organising committee of the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival (JIMFF) is accepting entries for music-themed films ahead of the event to be held in Chungcheongbuk-do province, South Korea, between 12 and 17 August.
Launched in 2005 as an advocate for musical films, the JIMFF is the only music and film festival in Asia. Its programming includes both a celebration of film and contemporary music shared across genres and generations.
Eligibility
- Only films completed after 1 January 2019 are eligible for submission.
- Selected films will be screened in their original version. If the dialogue of the film is not in English, it must include English subtitles.
Note: The winner in the World Music Film Today category will be awarded 50m South Korean Won (about $45 000). The category caters for the latest feature-length films (more than an hour), which are yet to be premiered in the country.
Below are other categories with no prize money allocations:
World Music Film’s Landscape: This section introduces a selection of international films about music or musicians. The films should explore various aspects of life and culture through music.
Korean Music Film Now: This section introduces Korea’s latest music films in various genres, including narrative, documentaries and animated films.
Family Fest: This section targets enjoyable, family-centred intergenerational music films.
Cinema Concert: A signature programme of JIMFF, this section represents the most primitive form of film music while experiencing simultaneous screening and live music performance.
