Call for entries: Muzikol Music Awards in Cameroon

Launched by tech company ABEBOH, the inaugural MUMAs will recognise and reward the work and talent of African artists, old and contemporary alike. The company also owns Muzikol, a music market and social network app.

Songs, videos and journalism released from January 2019 to June 2020 are eligible for consideration. The awards boast 32 categories, 29 of which are for Cameroonian acts while the remaining three have been reserved for the rest of Africa.

The entries will be analysed and classified by an artificial intelligence system, the organisers said. The public will vote in 16 categories while the remainder will be statistics-based.

“We strive to reward all the stakeholders of the music industry such as singers, producers, event organisers, record labels, artist managers and music innovation,” they said.

The Top 10 entries in each category will be shortlisted, and the MUMAs committee will select the final six nominees in each category. The committee consists of representatives from different sectors of the entertainment industry, including the media. 

The awards ceremony will take place in November and feature performances, a keynote address and an after-party for the nominees and organisers.
