Call for entries: Shanghai New Music Week scores
The 13th edition of Shanghai New Music Week is accepting scores from composers around the world for its Masterclass for International Student Works concert.
Shanghai New Music Week is scheduled to take place between 18 and 23 September.
A jury will select five pieces from the pool of entries. The student members of the Shanghai New Music Week Ensemble will then work with the scores and compose further.
Applicants should note that Shanghai New Music Week will provide the selected international finalists with accommodation, transport and a festival pass.
All the selected finalists must participate in rehearsals and attend the concert.
Eligibility
To be considered, the applicant must:
- Be a student at the time of application.
- Submit only one composition.
- Submitted a composition that is between five and eight minutes long.
- Submit works for between five to eight musicians playing the flute, clarinet, oboe, piano, viola, cello and two violins.
- Submit works composed after 2019.
- Provide the full score in PDF format.
Requirements
- A scan of the entrant's student ID card.
- Photograph.
- Phone number, email address and postal address.
- Biography of the composer and introduction of the composition in Chinese or English (200 words max).
