Call for nominations: 200 Young South Africans
The Mail & Guardian in South Africa is inviting the general public to submit nominations for the 18th edition of the 200 Young South Africans.
200 Young South Africans is an annual supplement celebrating exceptional young leaders making a positive impact in over 15 fields including arts, civil society, health, technology and sport. The event recognises young South Africans aged from 18 to 35 who are committed to creating a sustainable future.
Criteria:
- Aged 35 and under by the end of 2023.
- Has demonstrated a vision for the future in their career, workspace or community.
- The vision has turned into tangible outcomes that have a track record.
- Can provide examples of the effect of these projects.
- The nomination should demonstrate how the person is changing how things have been done and ensures that no one is left behind.
- The nomination should also demonstrate how the person’s work or project converges technologies or is a body of work that is developing new technologies paving the way for more young people to be productive and acquire skills.
The public can submit nominations here before 10 April. The 200 Young South Africans will be announced at a gala event on 29 June.
“We are inviting you to nominate young South African visionaries aged 18 to 35 who are committed to creating a trajectory that is sustainable and are positively disrupting the current reality by innovating the future we want to see,” a statement reads. “If you know a young trailblazer creating an inclusive, equal and sustainable future, please tell the Mail & Guardian about their story so that they can be celebrated.”
