Call for registration: TuneCore women in music webinar
Independent music distribution company TuneCore is calling on interested individuals to register for a webinar titled Women In Music: Challenging the Industry To Do Better, which will be held on 25 March.
The panel will discuss why women, who account for about 50% of the world’s population, only make up 11% of the music industry’s artist population. It will be hosted by TuneCore co-head and chief revenue officer Andreea Gleeson. The panellists will include MIDiA managing director Mark Mulligan, producer and artist Dominique and Believe vice-president of trade marketing Milena Taieb.
The webinar follows research by technology and media analysis firm MIDiA, in partnership with TuneCore, to provide in-depth data about the disparity between female and male artists in the music industry.
The study provides an essential look at the perspectives of female artists, writers and producers, who candidly shared “the challenges, experiences and ambitions of women making music in the industry today, with an outlook on what is set to change, and what more can be done to remove barriers and support female music makers.”
TuneCore will utilise MIDiA’s research findings to prompt more transparent conversations about taking steps to shift the dynamic.
“Distribution and access to digital service providers is just one piece of the puzzle,” a statement reads. “For this panel, we hope to spark a deeper, data-driven conversation about gender inclusivity across the greater music industry. Join us while we break down the study’s findings and dig deep into perspectives from respected industry leaders.”
The webinar will begin at 8pm CAT. Interested attendees can register here.
