Call for registrations: Population Clubs project in Egypt
The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt and the Etijah Foundation, a youth and development consultancy institute based in Cairo, are calling on artists to register for songwriting training, which is part of the joint Population Clubs project.
The project was launched in 2015 and is funded by the United Nations Population Fund. Population Clubs spread awareness about population issues, especially reproductive health issues, and support young people to actively participate in solving development challenges to enhance the ambitious goals of Egypt Vision 2030.
Population Clubs are located at public youth centres in various governorates to ensure the sustainability of their activities, improve communication with local communities and maintain a high level of support and response. Presently, there are 90 clubs in 21 governorates.
“Etijah enhances understanding and appreciates youth as one of the most important assets a country could have,” the Etijah Foundation says. “This is why it reinforces effective methodology in compliance with the Arabic culture, especially in the area of community and youth development.”
Participants will be trained on how to write and perform songs that tackle population issues in their governorates.
