DAW BandLab reports 50% spike in users
Singaporean collaborative digital audio workstation (DAW) BandLab has reported a 50% rise in users since the start of the year.
Founded in 2015, the free social music platform has now amassed more than 18 million users on its platform in 180 countries. About 1 million new users join the service every month and close to 10 million tracks are created on the platform monthly.
BandLab, which is also the owner of popular DAW Cakewalk, combines music making, online mastering and collaboration tools. The music production software enables creators to compose songs and share their creative process with other musicians and fans.
The service provides unlimited cloud storage, and is available on iOS, Android and web, making it, according to the company, the most accessible music composition and collaboration tool on the market.
With built-in forums, chat, a collaborator search function and real-time collaborative DAW sessions, BandLab provides essential tools for music makers at any level to develop their ideas. Additionally, the ‘forking’ feature, which can be enabled on selected tracks, allows other users to record new parts or even remix a track.
“With a global community of musicians and fans, BandLab’s mission is to break down the technical, geographic and creative barriers between creators, collaborators and community by providing a completely free and unlimited cross-platform service,” a BandLab blogpost reads.
