The platform, titled Celebrate Heritage Channel, includes a variety of curated playlists featuring specific genres and artists that are culturally relevant for South Africans. It comprises such playlists as SA’s Greatest Hits, SA House Classics, Essential SA Jazz and Gospel Gold.
“Starting now until the end of September, music fans can re-live the most iconic music from the last three decades featuring Mafikizolo, Brenda Fassie, Oskido and Teargas or discover fresh sounds from the artists that are making an impact today such as Sho Madjozi, Prince Kaybee, Nasty C and Shekhinah,” Deezer said. “So, whether you’re planning to fire up a braai, kick back and relax or ‘sokkie’ the night away, let us provide all the music you need to jump start the festivities with ‘Celebrate Heritage Month’ on Deezer.”
Deezer music editor Sotiris Moldovanos said: “Music has always played an important role in South African history and culture, and we want to recognise and celebrate its significance throughout the years with a dedicated channel that we know our local music fans will love and appreciate.”
The Celebrate Heritage Channel is available here on Deezer.
