Felabration Symposium 2019 announces speakers
Felabration begins on 14 October and will showcase various art forms and live performances from 6pm to 5am daily for a week.
The celebration is in honour of Fela Kuti and will kick off with the Felabration Symposium, a segment designed to intellectualise the late musician-activist's ideals.
The symposium will see highly regarded intellectuals and profound thinkers from Africa and the diaspora discuss pertinent issues and proffer solutions to an audience that will get a chance to ask the panellists questions.
The event will take place at the NECA Events Centre in Lagos on 14 October from 10am.
The theme for this year's symposium is Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense, derived from a Fela composition of the same name.
The speakers are Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie, British rapper, poet, journalist and political activist Akala, University of Lagos law professor Akin Oyebode and Ugandan musicina-turned-politician Bobi Wine. The panel will be moderated by playwright and novelist Sefi Atta.
Over the years, the Felabration Symposium has attracted some of the best minds on the African continent, including Yemi Osibajo, Patrick Lumumba, Femi Falana, Omoyele Sowore and many others.
The symposium is open to the public.
