Gambia: Jali Madi quits Joluv Arts
Gambian Afromanding singer Jali Madi Kanuteh has left Joluv Arts Entertainment.
The relationship between artist and management began in 2013, when Jali Madi signed a contract mandating Joluv Arts Entertainment to promote his music. After announcing the end of the relationship, Jali Madi said he would be starting his own recording firm, which will be named Sangaranga Recordz.
He also commended his former label for their efforts towards the development of his musical career over the past four years.
“They added firewood to my burning musical talent and for that I am grateful to them," he said. "I would also take this opportunity to thank the Chief Executive Officer of Global Properties, Saul Frazer and the entire management at Global Properties for their relentless support throughout our journey."
Born in 1983 to a family steeped in the griot tradition, Jali Madi was initially part of a band before going solo. The band Askan Bi is best known for the song 'Bul Falleh Nyee', which was released in 2012. Two years later, Jali Madi released his first solo album, Gambia. The 9-track album was released under Joluv Arts Entertainment.
“I would also want to thank Kingdom Kanuteh for their support throughout these years," Jali Madi said. "I am now working on my own to make sure that my musical talent and career goes beyond expectations."
