Ghana: Stephanie Selawe shares debut EP The Trust
Ghanaian gospel singer Stephanie Selawe has released her debut EP titled The Trust, which is available on all major digital platforms.
The project, comprising six songs, blends pop and spiritual themes and features rapper Kingzkid.
“From the promises we are, by faith, so eager to see fulfilled in our lives to the sober moments when we surrender our frailties, weaknesses and vulnerabilities to God, it’s all a matter of trust,” the singer told Music in Africa.
“Nine years ago, I came into contact with Stephanie Selawe and since then we have been making music nonstop,” producer Michael ‘B’Sharp’ Butsorme, who helmed production on the project, said. “This EP is the result of years of sacrifice, trial and error. Stephanie’s love for God, resilience and her passion for music has made this EP a success.”
According to the artist, working with B’Sharp was a great decision. “As a singer who is growing, I needed someone who could strike a good balance between nudging me to growth and still make room for where I am now,” she said. “He gives an ear to my ideas and takes bold initiatives where needed.
“He also pulled together the best team of band and vocalists and worked great with the sound and mastering engineers to bring the best in each song. This process has been a blessing to me.”
Stephanie Selawe released her first single in 2013 and built a following by performing covers of other gospel songs. She cites Cece Winans, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Cindy Thompson, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Joe Mettle and Akesse Brempong among her technical models.
