Ghanaian collective SuperJazzClub drops Monochrome Radio
Ghanaian indie collective SuperJazzClub has released a new EP titled Monochrome Radio, which is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
The project comprises five songs including ‘UNO’ featuring British artist and producer BenjiFlow, and follows a series of stand-alone tracks and mini EPs such as ‘MAD’ (2022) and ‘WICKED’ (2023). The project marks their first major release since 2020 EP For All The Good Times. It blends early 2000s R&B, Ghanaian hiplife, hip hop, dancehall and electronic rhythms.
“This is a step into the major league,” SuperJazzClub said about the release. “The rookie seasons are over.”
On working with BenjiFlow, the band said: “It was a beautiful and seamless moment. The energy in the studio was full blast from then on. ‘UNO’ is a song inspired by the things we love to talk about like life, God, relationships and money.”
Formed in Accra, SuperJazzClub is a collective of artists, DJs, producers and filmmakers that came together in 2018. The group consists of seven members – Øbed, BiQo, Seyyoh, Tano Jackson, Joeyturks, Ansah Live and Anthony Orleans-Lindsay – working across various creative outlets.
Their debut single ‘Couple Black Kids’, released in 2019, addressed the plight of black people across the diaspora and showcased their unique sound, blending indie rock, jazz, and West Coast hip hop. The subsequent releases, including ‘Bordeaux’, ‘Cellular’, and ‘What You Want’, laid the foundation for their debut EP For All the Good Times.
SuperJazzClub will be on the road in Europe, starting with the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on 7 July, and a show in France on 13 July. This will be followed by dates in Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and London in October.
