Ghana‘s Kuami Eugene releases Son of Africa album
Ghanaian highlife singer Kuami Eugene on 9 October released his second album Son of Africa along with the visuals of a new single titled ‘Show Body’. The LP, published on Lynx Entertainment, is available on all digital platforms.
- Kuami Eugene's sophomore alum ha been released along with the video for ‘Show Body’ featuring Falz.
Son of Africa consists of 14 songs and boasts features from top Ghanaian acts including Shatta Wale, Samini, Sarkodie, DJ Mensah and gospel singer Obaapa Christy. There are also appearances by Nigerian rappers Falz and Zlatan, as well as Eddy Kenzo from Uganda.
“I can never thank you enough for the love you’ve all shown me," Kuami Eugene told his collaborators. “Your effort in helping me make this beautiful album possible is highly appreciated.”
Previewing the album on Accra-based radio station Hitz FM on 8 October, the singer urged Ghanaians to not relent in their support for his career.
Son of Africa arrives two years after Kuami Eugene’s debut album Rockstar. It was heralded by the singles ‘Open Gate’, ‘Wa Ye Wie’ and ‘Beifour’.
In March, Kuami Eugene announced a six-nation tour to support the album. The singer was scheduled to perform in Togo, Benin, Liberia, Gabon, Ivory Coast and Senegal, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour was postponed to a later date.
Since his professional beginnings in 2016, Kuami Eugene has enjoyed a continual mainstream presence in his home country with songs like ‘Angela’, ‘Confusion’ and ‘Walaahi’. Apart from the cancelation of his tour, 2020 is likely the most memorable for the ‘Wish Me Well’ singer, who was crowned Artist of the Year at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
