Ghana’s Shatta Wale up for movie award

The awards, which will take place on 23 December at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, has nominated the reggae-dancehall act in the lead actor category for his turn in the film Kejetia Vs Makola – The Trial of Shatta Wale.

The list of nominees for the awards is dominated by the film Azali, but Shatta Wale has quite the showing with a second nomination for Original Song for ‘Kajetia and Makola’, a song which shares a title with the movie. A version of the film also exists on Ghanaian TV as a series. Shatta Wale, however, is not an actor on the TV series. 

Fans of the controversial artist took to social media proclaiming the artist's brilliance. "When we say creativity and multi-talent this is what we mean," one posted. "N**ger is not only for Music. He is in every corner of entertainment! N**ger is truly an entertainer! " The post was shared by Shatta Wale.
