Kenya: Octopizzo named Tecno brand ambassador
Octopizzo has been named Tecno Spark 9 series brand ambassador for Kenya.
During the unveiling event in the capital, Nairobi, on Wednesday, Tecno Mobile Kenya brand manager Peter Shi said the hip hop artist would resonate with the target audience for the Spark 9 series that was officially launched on the market on 20 June.
“We are excited to announce Octopizzo as the brand ambassador for the Tecno Spark 9 series,” Shi said. “He brings with him a wealth of creativity and talent that goes hand in hand with the brand’s purpose of creating devices for the young at heart.”
Octopizzo, aka Namba Nane, is a respected recording and performing artist. He has won several awards and has been considered for a Grammy.
Born and raised in Kibera, one of Nairobi’s roughest neighbourhoods, Octopizzo has defied the odds to succeed and is seen as an inspirational figure by the youth in his home area and Kenya at large.
The humanitarian and entrepreneur will also spearhead the Tecno #SparkYourDream campaign. The initiative targeting the youth will see Tecno Mobile Kenya support the dreams of three young people whose proposals or projects will be carefully selected and vetted. The support will be in the form of cash and a six-month mentorship programme.
Last month, another Kenyan artist Otile Brown also partnered with the Chinese company to become the brand ambassador for the Tecno Camon 19 series.
