Lagos to host third edition of Brymo’s Organised Chaos
Singer-songwriter Brymo has announced the date and venue for the third edition of his annual concert, Organised Chaos.
Tagged ‘Oṣó Live In Concert’, this edition of the Organised Chaos series will have Brymo perform with his The Lagos Touts band at the usual venue, Freedom Park, Lagos.
Other performers will be named before the 1 October, a Nigerian holiday to mark the country’s Independence Day. Last year the event took place on another holiday, 1 May.
“Brymo, known for excellent delivery on records and on stage is prepared to deliver an even more powerful and exhilarating performance like never before,” says a statement from the artist’s management, the Bail Music Company.
The Oso Live in Concert event is named for Brymo’s 2018 album, Oṣó, which translates to “wizard” and met widespread critical acclaim upon its release. Writing for Music In Africa, a reviewer said the album “shows an upswing in the conversation between Brymo and music, something you wouldn’t think possible after [Brymo’s penultimate album] Klitoris.”
The album was also the cause of some sensation online when its first single ‘Heya’ was released with a video showing the artist almost nude, a part of his anatomy covered with loincloth.
In an interview with Music In Africa, Brymo said the video was initially intended to be first of a three-part video connecting his idea of Africa’s past with commentary on the present. The plan was shelved but the first video remained.
“Oṣó is the most deliberate album I have done,” Brymo told Music In Africa, adding that to write songs for the album he lived alone, away from family. “I approach making music the way a Hollywood director makes movies.”
Tickets for ‘Organised Chaos: Oṣó Live In Concert’ are available at the official website for Oso at 5000 naira ($14), and 3000 naira ($8) for students.
