No Afrobeat on sixth Brymo album
Nigerian musician Brymo has announced that his next album will be released on 27 March next year.
His first album, Brymstone, was released in 2007. Since then four other albums, Son of a Kapenta; Merchants, Dealers and Slaves, Tabula Rasa and Klitoris, have been released. Klitoris was released last year. In 2015, Brymo releasd the compilation album Trance.
Next year will also see the release of a book by Brymo, whose new website has been launched.
“My new album is titled OṢÓ (the wizard), and is currently moving to the mixing and mastering phase,” he said on Twitter. “http://Theosoproject.com is the site dedicated to this project, my team will bring you updates there. I am also publishing my first book. I can’t wait for the new year.”
Speaking about the album’s contents, Brymo said to a fan, “The new album has no Afrobeat song on it, and it’s mostly ballads. I am taking inspiration from Apala and Yoruba folk music, riding on instrumentals that blend alternative rock music with soul. Please wait. March soon come.”
