Maandy named brand partner for Kenyan spirit
Kenya Breweries Limited’s (KBL’s) spirits brand Chrome has announced a brand-new partnership with Kenyan female rapper Amanda Wambui, popularly known as Maandy.
The partnership will be officially announced by way of an elevated consumer experience event, which will take place at Marine Park Resort in Chuka town on 2 March. Maandy will headline the event and will share the stage with local musicians Bensoul, Ndovu Kuu, Fathermoh and Breeder LW, as well as DJs Kalonje, Tadgue and Maddz.
According to KBL, Maandy joins the Chrome brand as an influencer “in line with the brand’s objective to position itself as a progressive urban spirit, uniting those that trust in their roots, the ones that live in the joy of the present and thrive off the energy of the streets that made them who they are. The brand remains at the forefront of channelling the newest, freshest trends in Kenya’s dynamic urban culture.”
“This is a massive opportunity for me as it opens me up to new audiences, new avenues to showcase my creativity and new stages to connect with my fans,” Maandy said. “I am really excited, and I cannot wait to bring my fans along in this new experience with the Chrome brand. Chuka will be massive and I invite everyone to show up on the day and celebrate with us.”
Commenting on the partnership, Chrome brand manager Lilian Mbugua said: “We are excited to have Maandy on board. Meanwhile, Maandy is celebrating another milestone after being awarded a YouTube plaque for hitting 100 000 subscribers on her channel.
The artist took to social media to express her gratitude, sharing a heartfelt message with her fans, known as Kabaya Klan, writing: “Learning to celebrate ‘small wins’. Thank you to all of you who believe in my talent and not just the hype, thank you for proving to me that I need to continue! From the first person to subscribe to 100k to now 100k+! I Need Kabaya Klan to understand that this is just the beginning.”
The artist teased a new project in the celebratory message, with her fans showering her with praise.
