Mr Eazi goes to Spain
Nigerian popstar Mr Eazi will appear at the 2018 Sónar Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
The ‘Skintight’ crooner is one of a set of artists to be presented by American act Diplo at the annual event. Alongside a few other African acts, Mr Eazi will thrill attendees.
“This year,” says the festival, “Diplo will present a special showcase at SonarVillage and has invited several of his favourite present-day African music projects: Uganda's DJ Kampire, South African duo Distruction Boyz and Nigerian crooner Mr. Eazi. The DJ and producer from Tupelo will also play a special closing set, selecting music in congruence with this showcase.”
The collaboration between Diplo and Mr Eazi has already led to a remix of Mr Eazi’s hit song ‘Leg Over’ and in March, Diplo claimed to have signed the Nigerian act to his Mad Decent label.
Speaking about the foreign acts coming to play at Sonar, Enric Palau, a co-founder of the event, said to international media: “Some of these artists are coming to our festival where there is high technology everywhere but they bring their homemade technology which is sometimes rough but it's so creative.”
Mr Eazi has said his second project Lagos to London will be released this year. A few singles and the video for ‘London Town’ have been released ahead of that project, which is meant to be a sequel to last year’s Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 - Accra To Lagos. Songs from both projects are expected to be played when Mr Eazi climbs the Barcelona stage this weekend.
The whole of Diplo’s selection of music and African stars, says the festival, “will provide a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the most powerful and vibrant trends in today's African music scene, from a curator and aficionado of music hailing from the African continent.”
Sónar Festival will take place on 14 - 16 June. For tickets, see here
