Mr Eazi: Lagos to London project gets release date
Mr Eazi’s Lagos to London project will be released on 9 November.
The announcement was made on Twitter by the Nigerian act who will be at the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya.
Lagos to London, which is a sequel of sorts, follows 2016’s Accra to Lagos. The cities in the titles of both albums refer to the places that the artist has had significant experiences in. While he was born to Nigerian parents, he was schooled at a university in Accra and first found fame in London.
To promote the album, Mr Eazi has released a number of singles including ‘Property’, featuring Mo-T of South African group Mi Casa, ‘Pour Me Water’, 'London Town' with UK act Giggs and ‘Keys to the City (Ogede)’. All of these singles have been well accepted, their videos receiving millions of views and streams on YouTube and other online platforms.
“If someone had told me in 2015 that it was possible for an African Artist making African music to generate over $1 million in streaming only revenue I would not have believed!” he tweeted recently.
In the days leading to the project’s release, Mr Eazi has run a few promotional tweets asking his followers a few questions while offering fans with correct answers a chance of attending a listening session. “I wanna pick 15 fans in the UK who will ride with me in my Party Bus on Thursday taking pictures around London, vibing on our way to the #LagostoLondon Listening party!!”
The forthcoming project features Simi, Lady Donli, 2Baba, Burna Boy, Diplo and others.
At ACCES 2018, Mr Eazi will discuss the nature of collaborations. Register to attend the conference here.
