Nigeria’s Dice Ailes unveils new track Dicey Baba
Nigerian pop act Dice Ailes has unveiled his new track ‘Dicey Baba’. The release, which marks his return from a two-year hiatus, is a self-proclamatory tune that starts with a sample of Fela Kuti’s 1986 ‘Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense’.

According to his publicist, the new song serves as an “attestation of Dice Ailes reinvention and innovation as an ingenious creator” and a “perfect re-introduction for fans who have been anticipating new music from him.”
Dice Ailes, known for his catchy hooks and collaborations with industry heavyweights like Falz and Tiwa Savage, last released was the 2022 EP Ladies First.
On ‘Dicey Baba’, the musician hardly strays from his usual braggadocio as heard on previous records like ‘Alakori’ and ‘Money Dance’. On the new song, he alludes to himself as a saviour who is tasked with saving his fans from the hands of oppressive teachers, a metonymy for his peers in the music industry.
The Lagos-born Dice Ailes, whose real name is Shasha Damilola Alesh, developed a passion for music at a young age. The 27-year-old artist began his musical journey at 15, crafting a distinctive blend of Afropop, hip hop and R&B.
He signed with Chocolate City in 2014, and his breakthrough came in 2016 with the release of ‘Miracle’. He is a past nominee for Rookie of the Year at the Headies Awards and Best New Artist at the SoundCity MVP Awards.
