Open call: Oakfields College musical theatre and dance HOD
Oakfields College in South Africa is seeking a dynamic, passionate and organised professional to lead and grow the Faculty of Musical Theatre and Dance.
The head of department of the Faculty of Musical Theatre and Dance is a member of the management team and will be expected to contribute at both a strategic and operational level.
He or she will be responsible for all planning and managing of day-to-day operations as well as providing support and guidance to all staff and students while maintaining close ties with the professional industry. This leadership role requires excellent organisational skills and a passion for nurturing and developing talent within a creative learning environment.
Requirements and skills
- A deep commitment to student success and a passion for arts education.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Able to take initiative and independently execute ideas.
- Previous experience in teaching, lecturing or facilitating youth (preferably within the performing arts).
- Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
- The ability to work independently, as well as within a group.
- Hands-on production management skills.
- Familiarity with current trends and developments in the performing arts industry.
- A diploma qualification (or higher) preferably in performing arts, education or related fields from a recognised institution.
