Rwanda: Africa in Colors fest introduces monthly events
The organisers of Africa in Colors festival will hold monthly events targeting industry players on the continent from 24 June to December 2020. The events will be held virtually here and feature workshops, competitions and webinars.
The first phase of the series will take place from 24 to 27 June and include the three-day 3D Online Boot Camp with professionals aged between 18 and 30 from Tunisia, Mali, DRC, Gabon, Togo and Rwanda. Information about the speakers is available here.
The rest of the phases will feature discussions based on topics from the music, fashion, theatre, visual arts, gaming and film industries.
"We are looking forward to seeing artists, actors and other players of the creative industry in Rwanda take advantage of these activities to build a stronger creative industry where they can improve their businesses around this sector and trade with the rest of African countries," Africa in Colors co-founder Raoul Rugamba told The New Times.
"Experts from various sectors of the creative industry in Africa and beyond will share best practices, which we could adopt for a sustainable African creative sector, which creates jobs and value for Africans."
The festival was scheduled to take place between 26 and 28 March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent ban on public gatherings.
"With the mission and vision we had, we couldn't just wait for that time when life gets back to normal, and we decided to restructure our business model and created monthly activities," Rugamba said.
Africa in Colors is organised annually by Hobe Agency, a creative operation based in Rwanda, which focuses on content and showcases the work of African entrepreneurs.
