Rwanda: I am the Future talent search hosts auditions
Rwanda’s nationwide talent search ‘I am the Future’ will come to an end on 30 July.
The annual event which started on 23 June is themed ‘My Talent, My Opportunity’. And according to the producer David Tuyishimire, the competition will motivate upcoming musicians.
“The contest is open to anyone confident in their skills in music and this is the right time for them to start their career," he said. "Those selected will be taken to a musical academy for mentorship and development.” So far 20 out of 36 singers needed at the academy have been selected.
The auditions, as organised by Miracle Transporter Ltd in partnership with local music studio Future Records, will see the winner receive Rwf15 000 000 ($17 880) with the second runners up taking home Rwf7 000 000 ($8 344).
Auditions have been held in Kigali’s Nyarugenge, Gasabo and Kicukiro, Ngoma, Nyagatare and Rwamagana in the Eastern Province, as well as Ruhango, Muhanga, Nyanza and Huye in the Southern Province.
One of the judges Nicola Mucyo said, “Contestants need to be well prepared before coming for the auditions. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and they need to be ready for the exhibition instead of getting on stage with nothing to offer.”
Contestants are expected to register by paying Rwf 5 000 ($ 6). Auditions continue in the Northern Province’s Gicumbi and Musanze districts and Rubavu in the Western Province this weekend. Top winners from each district will receive an audio and visual production contract.
