Rwanda's Bushali announces new album
Rwandan hip hop artist Bushali is set to release his album !B!HE B!7 on 26 June.
The album, which will be available on various music streaming services, is delivered through Kinyatrap, a genre whose name is a portmanteau of the Kinyarwanda language and trap music.
It features international collaborations from Senegalese hip hop duo Daara J Family and Ghana's Magnom. Local artists featured include The Ben, Clout, Kivumbi King, Bruce Melodie, Dani Kard, Slum Drip, Antik Dust and Icenova.
"Through !B!HE B!7, I want to get rid of hatred, jealousy and selfishness and promote love among all human beings. Over the years, I realised the negative attitudes towards others only dney one the freedom of mind."
Bushali says the 15-track album is a reflection of all the artists and songs that have inspired and influenced him since he began making music in 2013. Such artists are American rappers Desiigner, Gucci Mane, T.I. and Young Jeezy.
The album's single,'Bwoba', which loosely translates to 'scared', recounts the musician's one month experience in jail after he was arrested and charged for alleged drug abuse and possession alongside fellow rapper Slum Drip. The two were released due to a lack of concrete evidence.
" 'Bwoba' encourages people to face their fears and not worry about the criticism they may face," Bushali said.
The album will be released through Rwanda's Green Ferry Music label. Its producers are Rwanda's Pacento, Holy Beat Murda, Kenny Pro and Faada Freddy from Senegal.
This will be Bushali's third studio album after Kugasima (2019) and Nyiramubande (2018).
