Sjava, Thandiswa Mazwai, Vusi Nova, Black Motion and the Jaziel Brothers will perform at the festival’s main event on 12 October. Other confirmed acts include Mafikizolo featuring Encore and Sello Galane as well as Semito and Lesotho’s Tsepo Tshola.
Gospel musicians Dumi Mkokstad, Thinah Zungu & Sipho Ngwenya, Sechaba and Sello Malete will entertain fans at the Gospel concert on 6 October. They will be joined by Zaza, Limakatso Dumako, Thoko Nogabe and Tsusie Makhalenyane.
“I am always excited to come back at MACUFE, it’s a wonderful event particularly the MACUFE Divas and it’s usually packed,” Lira told Music In Africa. “I have been there before, many times, which is what makes it exciting because it's nice to perform for fans who know and appreciate the music. These are proper fans you know. We want to keep the excitement going, inspire women and make sure they have a good time.”
Lira said preparing for a live performance is a challenge: "Well you know, I think for me the biggest struggle I have is that I have six albums and choosing songs across these albums is tough. You always going to leave some of the favourite songs but we try to do the crowd favourites. I always squeeze as many songs as I can and structure them in a way that can take our audience on a musical journey.”
The comedy section will feature popular acts such as Mashabela Galane, Skhumba Hlophe, Summary, Salesman, Chris Mapane and up and coming talent Tieho Khakhau, Lihle Msimang and Max.
