SA: Joy of Jazz to host music business workshops
Standard Bank Joy of Jazz (JOJ) will be conducting an educational and development workshop at the Apollo Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa on 27 and 28 June. The workshops, titled Geleza Kleva & Learn, form part of the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival initiative aimed at youths who want to pursue a career in the music and entertainment spheres.
To attend the workshops, interested individuals should register here. The workshops will cover such topics as marketing and public relations, event producing and event management and sound (stage and lights).
Jazz musicians Nomfundo Xaluva and Spha Mdlalose will be the guest speakers at the event. The two singers will share their knowledge with attendees at the Gauteng events. Some other speakers that can be expected at the workshops include Motlalepula Twala of Semopa Events Management and Production, JOJ marketing communications expert Judith Mugeni and PR expert Simphiwe Majola.
“The more we grow as the festival, the more responsibility we have and we love giving back,” T Musicman festival producer and general manager Mantwa Chinoamdi said. “Geleza Kleva & Learn is a big part of the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz and we are bringing it to Randburg for all of Gauteng.
“The two day workshop is free through registration, and a host of very skilled and talented professionals will share their career journeys and insights. Young people are encouraged to come and engage with experts, learn more about marketing themselves, their music, writing their own music, copyright, performance, arrangement, composition, staging a festival of this magnitude and so much more.”
Attendees will be ferried to the festival from various pick-up points in the following communities: Soweto, Ekurhuleni, the West Rand, Emfuleni and Tshwane.
