SA: Justin Bieber ticket holders to get full refund if tour is cancelled
South African ticket holders for Justin Bieber’s Justice World Tour will be fully refunded “if the SA leg of the tour gets cancelled”.
The news follows Bieber’s announcement this week that he would be taking an indefinite break from touring. This is his second postponement of the concert due to health issues.
The tour, which kicked off in May, was expected to be concluded in May 2023 after more than 90 performances in over 20 countries across five continents. The ‘Peaches’ hitmaker was scheduled to play in Cape Town on 28 September and Johannesburg on 1 October.
In June, Bieber postponed the North American leg of his tour due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a medical condition of shingles that caused him partial facial paralysis.
“As the result of this illness, I was not able to complete the North America leg of the Justice Tour,” Bieber said on Instagram. “After resting and consulting my doctors, family and team, I went to Europe in an effort to continue with the tour.
“This past weekend, I performed at Rock in Rio (de Janeiro) and I gave everything I have to the people in Brazil. After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realised that I need to make my health the priority right now. So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I'm going to be OK, but I need time to rest and get better.”
Big Concerts issued a statement this week after Bieber’s cancellation, urging ticket holders to keep an eye on the event promoter’s social media pages.
“We wish Justin a speedy recovery and admire his decision to put his health first,” Big Concerts said. “We can't wait to see him back on the road, and we’re standing by for further updates, which we will share with you as the South Africa dates approach. If the South African leg of the tour gets cancelled, all ticket holders will receive a full refund.”
The Justice World Tour is named after Bieber’s 2021 album, which debuted as the most-streamed album in 117 countries. Justice has amassed nearly 9 billion streams worldwide and dropped on the back of huge international hits ‘Anyone’, ‘Lonely’ and ‘Holy’, which had already gathered 2 billion streams prior to the album’s release.
In 2021, Bieber collaborated with Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid on a remix of his global hit ‘Essence’ featuring fellow Nigerian singer Tems.
