SA: Shaka iLembe TV series’ soundtrack album released
Producers of South African TV series Shaka iLembe have announced the release of the show’s soundtrack album.
The first seven tracks are available for streaming on major digital music streaming services.
Produced by The Bomb Shelter in partnership with MultiChoice, Shaka iLembe is set in the 1700s showcasing the journey of an iconic African king. Filled with conflict, action, romance, betrayal, sacrifice, triumph and loss, the soundtrack weaves together a tapestry of genres, featuring a carefully curated selection of original compositions and inspired tracks that perfectly complement the narrative.
From the pulsating beats of Afro-tech to the soul-stirring melodies of Afro-soul, the infectious rhythms of amapiano to the vibrant sounds of Afrobeats and the traditional Zulu musi, the album is a celebration of Africa’s diverse and vibrant musical heritage.
The title sequence and songs dedicated to and inspired by the main characters have also been released featuring award-winning musicians such as Mbuso Khoza, Ann Masina, Buhlebendalo, Philip Miller and Vusi Nova. Other artists are opera singer Ann Masina and rising stars Jessica LM, Thembi Mona and Nonka, as well as producers Tee Jay, TorQue MuziQ and DJ Sneja.
This first collection features the much loved title sequence namely, ‘Ungowamakhosi’ by Mbuso Khoza, Nandi’s theme song ‘Njomane’ by Mbuso Khoza and Ann Masina, Shaka’s song ‘iLembe’ performed by Buhlebendalo and the villain Zwide’s song by Vusi Nova, among others.
