Sha Sha features Kelvin Momo and Sykes on amapiano anthem Ndawana
South Africa-based Zimbabwean amapiano singer Sha Sha has released a new single titled ‘Ndawana’, featuring Kelvin Momo and Sykes.
The track, available for streaming and download on major digital platforms, is Sha Sha’s first major single since her critically acclaimed 2022 album I’m Alive.
The release reintroduces fans to the ever-evolving artist, as she brings a more mature, soulful sound to the forefront.
‘Ndawana’ is a melodic, feel-good love song that masterfully blends the essence of amapiano with a contemporary, global vibe, capturing the warmth and euphoria of summer. Sung in her native language, Shona, Sha Sha’s enchanting vocals create a deep connection with Zimbabwean audiences and the global diaspora, celebrating love in its many forms – romantic, familial, and divine.
To celebrate the release, Sha Sha has launched a TikTok challenge centred around finding “The One.” Fans can join the challenge using hashtags #Ndawana and #TheOne and even stitch her video to participate in the trend, adding a fun and interactive layer to the song's release.
For ‘Ndawana’, Sha Sha teamed up with amapiano pioneer Kelvin Momo, known for his genre-defining work and chart-topping album Sewe. His signature sound, combined with Sha Sha’s rich vocals, brings a fresh and dynamic energy to the track. Sykes, whose gritty and soulful voice complements Sha Sha’s melodies, adds another dimension to the song, creating a sound that appeals to both amapiano enthusiasts and mainstream music lovers.
Discussing her experience working with Kelvin Momo, Sha Sha shared: “What makes this song different is that I haven’t worked with Kelvin before. It allowed me to tap into places I hadn’t explored in a while. It’s part of my constant evolution as an artist, and I believe it feels more mature and grown.”
The collaboration with Sykes was equally serendipitous. “Meeting Sykes at the studio was unexpected, but it added so much value to the song. We clicked instantly, and our chemistry was incredible. It was one of those moments where everything just fell into place,” Sha Sha added.
