Sho Madjozi, Burna Boy win BET awards
The winners of the 2019 BET Awards were announced at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on 23 June.
South African artist Sho Madjozi triumphed in the Best New International Act category against such artists as Teniola Apata (Nigeria), Headie (UK), Octovian (UK), Jokair (France) and Nesly (France).
“Limpopo Champions League we did it,” Sho Madjozi wrote on Facebook. “Thank you so much for voting for me.”
Burna Boy (Nigeria) was named the winner of the Best International Act Award. The ‘On the Low’ hitmaker competed against AKA (South Africa), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), Aya Nakamura (Mali/France), Dave (UK), Giggs (UK) and Dosseh (France).
US artist Cardi B took home the Best Female Hip Hop Artist and Album of the Year awards. Other winners Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé, Lil Baby, Migos, Travis Scott and Drake.
