Stonebwoy releases Nominate ft. Keri Hilson in South Africa
Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist Stonebwoy has released ‘Nominate’ in South Africa featuring US singer Keri Hilson.
The song is off Stonebwoy’s 15-track album Anloga Junction, which was released in April. ‘Nominate’ debuted at No 19 on the Billboard charts and is fast approaching 2 million views on YouTube. In South Africa, the song is enjoying TV and radio airplay on Trace Africa, Mzansi Magic, Motsweding FM, Jozi FM, Inanda FM, VOW FM and TransAfrica Radio.
"'Nominate’ is a global tune and it’s just been released in South Africa and is doing well,” Stonebwoy told Music In Africa. “This collaboration is a big one and will leave a mark in the history books of the world, as it is between myself and Keri Hilson.
“It is the first of its kind. The world is loving it, so South Africa will definitely embrace it. Big respect to Keri Hilson for coming along with us on this journey.”
Over the past six weeks, the release of Anloga Junction has been a global talking point and one of the most important album projects to come out of the continent this year. The album has opened up conversations about cross-cultural collaborations and the borders and barriers that music breaks down.
Apart from Keri Hilson, the album also features top artists Nasty C (SA), Diamond Platinumz, Alicai Harley (Jamaica), Jahmiel (Jamaica), Zlatan (Nigeria), Kojo Antwi (Ghana), Chivv (Netherlands) and Spanker (Netherlands).
The video for ‘Nominate’ premiered on YouTube on 24 April. The song and the full Anloga Junction album are available for streaming and download here.
