Tanzania: Abeneko and The Positive Mind confirm Europe tour
Tanzanian band Abeneko and The Positive Mind will go on tour this European summer.
The band’s itinerary starts on 7 June and includes Germany, Finland, Denmark, Hungary and Latvia. The tour is titled the Peace & Love Music Tour and coincides with the band’s latest single release ‘Peace and Justice’, which delves into the harsh realities of war, shedding light on current conflicts plaguing the world, from Ukraine to Gaza and the DRC. The tour is meant to amplify the group’s overarching message of love and harmony.
Abeneko and The Positive Mind will also aim to promote Tanzania’s rich traditional and contemporary musical heritage and forge new connections with artists and audiences from other parts of the world.
The six-piece band’s performances incorporate elements of contemporary Tanzanian sounds like bongo flava and singeli mixed with funk, Afrobeats and traditional dance rhythms to create its unique brand of ‘bongo fusion’.
The band formed in 2012 and is led by Isack Abeneko. It has made appearances at notable East African music festivals like Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar), Bayimba (Uganda) and Karibu (Tanzania).
