Ticketmaster launches operations in South Africa
Online ticket marketplace Ticketmaster today announced that it was launching operations in South Africa, with headquarters in Cape Town.
Based in the US and believed to be the biggest player in the ticket market, Ticketmaster says it is bringing its advanced digital ticketing technology to the country while providing client solutions and world-class service.
The Live Nation-owned company added that artists, promoters, festivals and venues, as well as sporting teams will have access to its suite of products and digital ticketing tools designed to improve fan experience.
“As a popular stop for the world’s biggest artists and major international sporting events, South Africa is a natural choice for us,” Ticketmaster president Mark Yovich said. “Our unparalleled technology and continued investment in innovation will enable our South African team to provide the best ticketing experience to event organisers, venues and fans across the country.”
“Our local team of experts have been living and breathing live events for 20-plus years and are ready to bring their industry-wide knowledge coupled with the world’s largest ticket marketplace to clients and fans here,” Ticketmaster South Africa managing director Justin Van Wyk said. “As a country rapidly adopting digital technology, South African fans are sure to embrace Ticketmaster’s industry-leading digital ticketing innovations.”
The news of Ticketmaster’s South Africa division follows the announcement of its Attractions segment earlier this month. Attractions offers technology and services for immersive event producers, exhibit operators, promoters and agencies.
It also arrives hot on the heels of a successful marketing for Canadian popstar Justin Bieber’s Justice World Tour, which the company claims to be the first ever major international concert to sell all tickets online in South Africa.
